Scarlet Heels: 30 polite stories about you-know-what
I don’t think I told you about these stories, did I? That’s odd, because publishing them as a Kindle ebook was a big event for me last week.
I could let the Amazon cover speak for itself. Real women. Not young. Not supermodels. No liposuction, no body reconstruction. Not much similarity between the two. No swimming togs either. Real, highly individual women striding into the sea, just as they are.
That’s the spirit of the stories: 26 women (and one man) talking about their experience of sex, and how it has changed their perceptions or their lives.

800 copies of an earlier edition sold out in weeks, and these diverse stories about “real” sex met with much enthusiasm. It’s only now that I’ve figured out (I hope) how to present them to the public.

Thanks Robyn! I will get around to republishing a hard copy but realistically, sales outside New Zealand of indie paper books are almost a hopeless cause. And that’s OK.
I’ll recommend this book to book club friends. Most prefer a hard copy though. Doesn’t Amazon offer print options?
That is the greatest gift: thank you! I will look into Amazon print options but suspect it involves much hard graft. However — every year self publication gets simpler. We shall see.

My friend and former supervisor turned mentor, now an emeritus professor is 75 years young. The example her life is to me is truly inspiring. I craft my aspirations because of her role modelling. But she’s not the only one. When I read your blog posts I glimpsed other possibilities. I realised that turning seventy (next year for me) doesn’t exclude having aspirations. I have goals I’m working toward. When I achieve those there’ll be new ones.
On the matter of aspirations and sex: a woman asked her eighty five year old grandmother when people stop having sex. She replied ‘ you’ll have to ask someone much older than me.’
That’s brilliant. Love the last story too. And you in turn inspire others… Never forget it’s a chain reaction both with goals (one achieved sets a new one in place) and role models. Your turn coming ready or not!
