1 January 2018

It’s the same world
with the same wars
but the date on the page
is sparkly.

It’s the same home
and the same team
but the diary
is hollow.

It’s the same brain
and the same skin
and the heart of you
is waking.

  1. Not quite there yet on the dark side of the world 🙂 Happy New Year!

    1. Aha! Thanks, same to you!

      1. Liked the poem by the way. Forgot to add that to my comment!

      2. Oh thank you again!

  2. Chris White says:

This is a brave poem and real and very strong. My heart too, is waking.

    1. Thank you Chris! What a moment…

  3. cedar51 says:

yesterday I was out with my sister (& niece) and she said “can’t think why it’s important, it’s just another day/date” – but then again her life has almost disappeared, she more concerned whether the carer will turn up; how the TV works and whether the phone will still be ringing by the time she gets to it…

whereas many of us are looking forward to making more “hay whilst the sun shines” and filling up those new and shiny white spaces in our diaries 🙂

I for one know I’m going to be doing many things this year…just because i believe I can…

  4. That’s the power of mind over matter, or realistic optimism.

  5. Aunt Beulah says:

A perfect poem and message for this day.

    1. I am so glad it works for you.
