Will your life be boring when you are old? Will there still be surprises in old age? I can only speak for myself, but I know there are many delightful surprises in even the simplest of lives, and that this is likely to be true for you as well. Everyone needs patterns and routines, and surprises to break the routine. Old people need both, just as we did when we were young. The scale may change, the balance may change, but not the basic principle.

This is the final episode of Season 1 of the podcast How To Be Old. Season 2 is about my solitary boot camp for the bonus years.

At my church a couple in their 90’s met and married in their 80’s after both were left alone. My great aunt married my great uncle at 90. Lots of change obviously still possible.
