Poem about credit card debt

Drawing of the many-headed hydra of debt, loss, tax and sepdning

The many-headed hydra of debt

Yo Hercules, go slay the stinking Hydra!

And so he did, bashing lump after lump
of debts that muscled out and split,
every neck stump spurting two more heads
hissing acid in his face—
that’s how it is with finance.
Bash one bill with a credit card
and lo you have doubled the debt
and triggered an exponential threat.

Even Hercules had help:
a nephew cauterized the stumps
and did the sums but hey
Hercules thought ahead.
He dipped his arrows
in the blood of Hydra
toxin for tax
and future combat with the budget.
Clever lad.
That’s his retirement plan.

Not sure that even the writer understands this fully, apart from the mood. Poem and drawing by Rachel McAlpine cc by 2.0.

Nicely done. I wonder if every head can place orders over the Internet? That could be a problem.
