A fussy cat hides from chaos

Photo of cat's hindquarters and tail sticking out of a backpack in a messy room

In the midst of chaos, a fussy cat escapes to her safe place.

Ursula the British Shorthair likes things tidy. When chaos encroaches, she hermitifies in what she perceives as a safe cave where she is invisible. Bad luck: I’m packing for a trip and I need that backpack right now.

    Aww, tough luck for Ursula.

If you hadn’t told me what was going on I might have thought she had produced the chaos pulling everything out of the pack while looking for her favorite treat.

    1. Rachel McAlpine says:

Well, no. She’s quite a tidy cat who likes things on time and just so.

      1. Elizabeth says:

        And proud of it!

  3. They do like to be kept informed about what is going on!

    1. Rachel McAlpine says:

So true. But communicating such complex information is beyond me any tips?

      1. First you have to gain their attention for two minutes – Never mind, forget it!

  4. Very funny photo. I sometimes wonder if cats have a sense of humour – in this case with a willingness to look a little ridiculous. Or, perhaps she wants to come on the trip too.

    1. Rachel McAlpine says:

I am certain that Ursula has no sense of humor when it comes to her own dignity. Laugh at her at your peril.

  5. I love your sense of humor.

    1. Rachel McAlpine says:

That’s lucky, because I sure need it these days.

  6. cedar51 says:

Ursula to Rachel “no you don’t, last time I didn’t come with you…this time, I’m coming”

    1. Rachel McAlpine says:

Nice try, gal. But I’ve got 75 years on you and I’m on to your wily ways.

Oh woe! The Staff going on a trip? does that mean that Ursula will have to go to the … that unmentionable place … the C Word. Or does she have a bespoke Cat-sitter? substitute staff? the latter, I trust.

    1. Rachel McAlpine says:

The latter, I’m glad to say. Or rather, she is visited twice a day by a devoted acolyte. I confess, the photo was taken a few weeks ago but in a couple more weeks she will be again abandoned.

I am relieved to receive this update. If I lived in your city I would be volunteering and providing five-star service. After many years training under Chocolat’s demanding paw, I am an accredited cat-keeper.

    1. Rachel McAlpine says:

I bet you’re the tops. Thanks for your willing, but the honour goes to my neighbour William.
