Marbles in Tokyo Olympics—cat thinkies

Brown cat playing with marbles. Thought bubble says: Next stop Tokyo Olympics
Ursula training for the Japan Olympics in classical marbles

As a rookie marbles player, Ursula the cat is swept up in Olympics fever. Never mind that marbles is not an Olympics sport (yet). Never mind that the Tokyo Olympics may never happen. Training religiously, she is getting the hang of marbles as a sport and is confident of qualifying for the New Zealand team and (obviously) winning a gold medal.

She disdains the vulgar fad of competitive marble racing and claims never to have visited Jelle’s Marble Runs website or viewed any of their videos.

I doubt this cat will spend any of her precious training time on social influencer work before the Olympics. On the other hand, if a sportswear manufacturer or marble factory tapped her on her non-existent shoulder, she might deign to use their products.

    She seems seriously committed.

      To her own glory, Sadie.

I can see Ursula is in good form, so an obvious candidate for a Gold Medal.

    1. Rachel McAlpine says:

She thinks so, and thanks you for your perceptiveness

  3. I chuckle as I picture you assiduously researching marble racing on the world wide web.

    1. Rachel McAlpine says:

I know my duty to my imperious feline.

  4. Elizabeth says:

I am impressed that the marbles stay in place. In our house anywhere you put a marble it would roll happily away on its own.

    1. Rachel McAlpine says:

The tiles sometimes allow marbles a wee nap.

      1. Elizabeth says:

Did you feel the earthquakes yesterday? Did they affect the marbles?

      2. Rachel McAlpine says:

Thanks for asking—I didn’t feel any of the earthquakes, strange to say. But it was a peculiar day here, focused on tsunami which were not destructive, fortunately.

      3. Elizabeth says:

On the Oregon coast where we spent much time there were tsunami alerts along with markers about how high the water could come. Very sobering.

      4. Rachel McAlpine says:

Some places here have a blue tsunami line painted on the road. As you say, sobering.

They do say cats have a mind of their own and Ursula is proving to be a feline that lives up to that saying. Well done, she trained you well! 🌞👍

    1. Rachel McAlpine says:

It’s still a battle of white but she is winning.

Hi Rachel – love Ursula and her relaxation with the marbles … Tokyo Olympics seems a stretch for now! Interesting to read about the Tsunami warnings … I became more aware of them when I was in Canada … just glad all settled down … stay safe – Hilary

I was also going to include Iceland in my comment … but should have – because it’s being reported that there are many eruptions occurring there – and the threat of a huge eruption is being talked about – earth changes any way.

    1. Rachel McAlpine says:

      Stay safe, Hilary.
