Do not fall but if you do… try falling safely

Quick heads-up: I’ve a new podcast episode up today — A lesson in falling safely with Simon Manns.
Of course that’s never guaranteed! But I’m lowering the odds of a bad injury. This podcast episode is all about me having a lesson in falling as safely as possible, especially in old age. You heard that right. Not preventing falls — which is crucial, but there’s already plenty of information and training available for preventing falls.
No, this is about learning how to fall as safely as possible with minimal damage to our body and brain. Because sooner or later, everyone falls over. We trip, slip, tumble and lose our balance – especially in old age. And when you’re old, the consequences are usually more drastic than when you’re young and bouncy.
So I called on Simon Manns, a stage fight director, to start training me to fall safely. He explains and directs. I say “Whoosh!” and “Oops!”

Define old age. I’ve fallen twice, both time injuring hands and wrists. Both times I was training or running a race. I guess if I sat in my chair more I’d fall less. I know I shouldn’t reach out with my hands when I’m falling, I think it’s a natural instinct that is hard to change!
That’s one thing we will be working on 🙂
Very interesting topic
